Flooding of Large U.S. City Minimized by Activation
of an Alert Stormwater System

On November 6, 2020, North Carolina was hit by 3.5” of rain in 5 hours. On one major reservoir, an Alert Stormwater System was activated on a PC computer 48 hours in advance of the storm. 500,000 gallons were released before the owner remotely closed the lake drain. “Everything with Alert Stormwater worked well (sic)” according to the owner. The pre-release of water, prior to a major flooding event, saved property and potentially lives.
