Remotely Control Stormwater a Watershed at a Time
Since the inception of stormwater management, engineers have carefully gathered data and calculated when, how and how much water can safely be released during rain events.
Today the industry has the ability to micro-tune release times, volumes and duration by way of control systems designed for this purpose. With connection via cell signal or satellite, the manager can direct the precise release of stored volumes to maximize watershed protection. From a web-based dashboard the user can pre-release existing volume to create new volume, can release water based on true rainfall amounts, water elevations or predictions from the National Weather Service.
The engineer now can compute the timing and volumes, based on today's new rainfall events, as a watershed plan. This allows for increased stormwater management from existing facilities without changing current storage. Programming all of the remote control systems in a holistic manner will drastically reduce the damage associated with stormwater flooding.
